Aug 22, 2000 Hi Raymond. Thank you for all the information you have sent on my Long family. You are very lucky to have such info at your fingertips! I'm sorry I couldn't have added anything to your wonderful site. Again, thanks for letting me know about it. I did enjoy looking through it.

2000 Evelyn Bailey of Pamber Heath Road

"I was born on February 12th 1908 in Shirley Cottage (Pamber Heath Road). My father was a sailor in the Royal Navy. I went to Silchester School and used to walk there. We used to take a dinner with us. I think the second day I was at school I ran home. I'd had enough of it! My elder brother had to come and get me and walk me back to school. I was there until I was 14, at Silchester all the time. Then I had to stay at home 'cause my mother was ill... for a long, long time.

I did have a little job after my mother died. I worked for the Parson at the Parsonage but there were other houses I worked for. I stayed with them for two or three years. They moved to Froxfield and asked me if I would go with them, so I went over there for a year. My father got married again and went to live with his wife in West Street, Tadley. I let rooms to people and kept two rooms to myself. Then I got married. After retirement, Harry went to work at AWRE for a while, then he worked at Jobs, the milk people, in the yard, not going round with the milk." Evelyn Bailey, Pamber Heath
